Hello, I'm Noa
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment has gradually become a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The first months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more challenging than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and lots of learning on the job. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, connected with other families, and started building something that felt stable.
Why I Built Modest Beacon Way
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Netherlands.
What This Website Represents (And What It Does Not)
This site is:
- Real-world experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site is NOT:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A paid review platform
- An ordinary travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I will keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Warm regards,
Noa
